Abdulsalam Altowaijri is chairman and chief executive officer of Al Mashrik Group, Inc. (“Mashrik”), which this year celebrates its 44th anniversary. Abdulsalam was named Chief Executive Officer in January 2008 and was elected Chairman in August 2011.
Prior to becoming CEO, Abdulsalam was President and Chief Operations Office from 1992 to 2007. Abdulsalam is the second generation of the Al Mashrik family to lead the company and has worked his way up to company leadership over the course of his career.
He first began working for Al Mashrik during summer breaks in high school. After finishing his studies at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, he became a licensed Civil Engineer and joined the company full-time as Site Engineer from 1981 to 1984.
He then became Deputy General Manager and Executive Vice President from 1984 until 1992. During this time, he took on roles of increasing responsibility in the field of construction, project management, and executive leadership.
